    I have already started preparation since May 2015 for 2016 exam and have covered almost half of my optional. By november I will be getting done with optional and december full revision. Beside this also covering static part of GS papers and Insight daily news archives which is such a great collection for me. Waiting for you plan Insight…

    I am from Melbourne, Australia. I have just graduated from MS (Civil Engg) and working. To be honest, I didn’t had any idea about UPSC since Sep 2014. All of a sudden, I got carried away by the syllabus and got a motivation to prepare for UPSC. But I don’t even have a slightest knowledge from where to start!!! With hours of browsing the materials and other resources, I am really confused.

    And Since I am away from India, I cannot rely on any coaching centre to channel me in the right direction. So would be happy if you guys can help in giving a brief strategy on “Where and what to start with”. T

Go to youtube type demolish cse in one year part 1 watch it then watch 2nd part.If you don’t get enough info then type how to prepare upsc in search bar then watch a number of videos on the concerned matter.after one or two days you will get the whole picture.And one more thing download upsc 2015 notification and read it from first to last– type upsc 2015 notification in google and the first pdf you get is the official notification.

    Sir I guess , if I am to use my liberty at its fullest, I would like to suggest with all honesty that INSIGHTS should and must complete this TEST SERIES AND WHOLE PREPARATION PHASE atleast before 3 weeks or 1 month(4 weeks). It would be GOOD FOR ALL MY FELLOW ASPIRANTS. Please do consider.

    I would like to form a small email group (not more than 4-5) for the preparation of Prelims 2016. The idea is to prepare a few questions in the prelims format, while reading the NCERT/newspaper, and to share it with group members. I know that the Insights team is doing a great job in preparing and compiling such questions for us regularly. But this exercise of question making goes little further. This exercise not only builds a strong knowledge base but also develops a quizzing mind so that we start to read everything in an exam perspective and readily spot the possible questions while we read. Even though it is a group plan, it won’t affect our personal strategies. We can simultaneously prepare these questions while we read NCERTs/news Paper or while we google something. Gradually, we will start to read everything in prelims perspective. While someone answers to our questions, we re-read it for cross checking which will effectively save us from any further revisions. And every group member will get to practice the questions prepared by other members. I am already doing this exercise with my very close friend circle and we found it very helpful.

    No commitment is needed and you could share your questions as per your convenience, not necessary to be in a daily basis. But I believe such an exercise regularly is going to help us immensely over a period of time. Seriousness and an internet connection are the prerequisites. Sir i took coaching from Delhi for 2014 exam but that time i was not sure i wanted to do it or not. Wasted 2 years. Now i am in my hometown and have decided to make 2016 my mission and that with self study. Insights ,Mrunal and Unacademy seem like angels sent by God. Sir i wanted to be sure about one thing. If i cover the daily current events from insights and from The Hindu i read the editorial and perspective pages only, would that be ok Sir for current coverage?

        1. two ways you can do it :—

          1. first write …whatever you know about the topic, after that search what else can be added from article and other sources ===== This will make you independent in thought processing.

          2. you can search and gather everything and then you can write….this way..you will be satisfied that you have all the points ,but it wont stick in your mind. It will just give a sense of satisfaction.

          Try on your own….both ways…and choose the one….which will make you independent and not the one which will give you comfort

  143. I am a working Professional and Usually I got 5-6 Hour Per Day for Study. Out of these I consumed my 2-3 Hours in The Hindu Editorial (Reading & Note Making). Sometimes I also Read Indian Express. And I consumed Whole day in Just Editorials.

    one single initiative a whole year.. there is no need to mess things up like
    this.. earlier there was optional subject questions daily… one day it
    stopped.. then started current affairs… it stopped… then after some months
    it restarted.. then there is this lok sabha rajya sabha and all india raDio
    news analysis.. sometimes it stops..
    then starts… then it starts again and again it stops.. it is of no benefit .. first i used to follow your rajya sabha initiative.. then it stopped.. ok
    lok sabha started.. then now it has become a mix… one day suddenly it
    comes… i am sure that those who follow a daily timetable finds it difficult
    when suddenly 1 weeks articles are posted together.. i am wondering why you didnt stop secure 2015
    saying that you dont have time.. and you could have started another 3 or 4

    showing consistency in atleast that initiative, which iam sure is the one and

    because of my desparation and sense of being fooled… if you do not have time to
    post lok sabha insight program on a daily basis… please don’t post it.. cover
    atleast big picture programme.. but do that daily for atleast 1 year.. so that
    we have clarity in what u are giving us.. so that we can prepare lok sabha
    insight programme on our own.. and with that we will be able to follow both
    programmes daily and will not miss that any day.. DEAR SIR, IAM REITERATING THAT CONTINUITY,
    STABILITY, CLARITY AND PUNCTUALITY MATTERS MORE THAN ANYTHING… tell us
    clearly in the beginning of the year what you can give us on a daily basis…

    Friends,…………I’m now being a member in a whatsapp study group, not as satisfied as I wish.

    It’s because there are too many people where it lacks coherence amongst aspirants.

    If it continues to add still more people, it may ruin the very purpose of the group-study and even the spirit of quality discussions and debates.

    Hence, I would like to start a new group which comprises only 3 to 5 members. I believe it works very fruitfully if the members are limited, very serious and solely determined to get into civil services as one of the 2016 batch IAS officers(may sound fanciful but honestly saying).

    I feel that the test series would be more helpful for the aspirants if the NCERTs and other books are covered subjectwise and not linearly like class 6,7,8,9,10, etc .
    For eg : First cover geography in 4-5 tests . Test -1 covering Class 6-10 geography ncerts . Test 2 to 4 covering Class 11,12 and GC leong topicwise clubbed and not book wise .

    Then cover other subjects like History , Political science etc in same manner from NCERTs to standard books along with regular covering of current affairs .

    Please consider this option also sir .

I have decided for networks, control systems, digital , micro and signals in first go.Here I have to state that though being an electrical engg grad I am having a keen interest in electrical as an optional, i have a little amount of fear that considering the ocean of syllabus for general studies paper, how will it go in managing Power systems, machines and power electronics.

        1. same here I am too much interested electrical as an optional. I first start with
          machine , network , control , power system . one thing I have in my mind that after covering ocean of syllabus , I am not assured to get good marks in GS . but in optional it is possibility to get good marks . we must stick to a plan to cover optional and not give less time in comparison to GS. I have one idea , come to my mail .

    1.Person who prepare in Dr.Mukharjinagar ,New Delhi.

    2.Person should be SERIOUS one(who are ready to give his single minded devotion to our GOAL ie IAS) and willing to study in library at Dr.mukharjinagar who are preparing for 2016.

    3.Person who are diehard fan of insights and willing to follow insight test series(If person not yet given first test then no problem we will postpone date of that test and also i am not given that test so dont worry.) as well as all initiative of insights on daily basis like secure question ,rsls etc(CONSISTENCY is a key of SUCCES…)

    4.Person who have SOCIOLOGY as Optional so its better to integrate Whole preparation means we also add some syllabus of optional as well as ethics ie GS-4 along with schedule of insight test series so our optional and GS-4 also finish side by side.(I already prepare that schedule so i am ready to share in group so we all are on the same track ..Also in future we can make some changes(amendment ha h ha) as per our need .. dont worry SCHEDULE is a synthesis of flexibility and rigidity like our constitution so its don’t violate the basic principles which given in insights schedule of PRELLIMS and MAINS like whole syallabus of prellims and mains should b cover parallaly,writing skills, cover dailly currrent events ,cover yojana etc..thank u insight…..i Just added syallbus of sociology and GS-4 )
