What It Is?
- Shruti (Yard 3037) is an indigenously designed and constructed Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) belonging to the Shachi-class.
- Named after India’s ancient cultural heritage (Shruti, referring to the four Vedas), the ship is engineered to perform a wide spectrum of multi-domain maritime operations in both coastal and deep-sea waters.

Aim: To augment the Indian Navy’s surface fleet capabilities for constant ocean surveillance, protection of offshore assets, anti-piracy operations, counter-infiltration, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions.
Key Features:
- Dimensions & Displacement: Measures approximately 110 meters in length with a displacement of 2,500–2,900 tonnes, featuring an optimized hull form for reduced drag and superior seakeeping.
- Speed & Extended Endurance: Powered by two high-efficiency diesel engines capable of attaining speeds exceeding 25 knots, with an operational range of 8,500 nautical miles and an endurance of 60 days at sea.
- Advanced Armament & Defensive Systems: Equipped with a 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM), AK-630 Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS), Very Short Range Air Defense (VSHORADS) missiles, Kavach chaff decoy launchers, and the Maareech advanced torpedo defense system.
- Aviation & UAV Support Capabilities: Features an expansive stern helipad and an enclosed hangar capable of embarking and operating a 15-tonne multi-role helicopter alongside Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs/UAVs).
- Symbolic Crest & Modern Avionics: The crest design features the Ursa Major constellation and a red-and-white lighthouse, symbolizing guidance and constant sea vigilance. The vessel integrates an Electronic Warfare (EW) suite, state-of-the-art navigation radars, and an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS).
