- The NZP Saathi App is a high-tech, interactive digital zoo guide and navigation mobile application. It transforms traditional paper-map zoo visits into a smart, GPS-assisted educational experience, acting as a virtual companion for anyone exploring the wildlife sanctuary.
Organisation Involved: The application was designed, deployed, and managed under the direct authority of the National Zoological Park, New Delhi.
Aim:
- The objective of the application is to drive a comprehensive digital transformation at the national zoo.
- By integrating real-time routing technologies and curated audio-visual itineraries, it aims to eliminate visitor confusion, decrease structural crowd bottlenecks, and deepen public awareness regarding wildlife conservation and animal habitats.
Key Features of the App:
The app functions as a dual-platform utility tool integrated with the zoo’s physical infrastructure:
- Cross-Platform Accessibility: Fully optimized and available for download across both Android and iOS platforms.
- Smart Navigation Matrix: Features a highly detailed, real-time interactive digital map that gives step-by-step navigation instructions to help visitors pinpoint animal enclosures, drinking water points, washrooms, battery-operated buggy stops, medical rooms, and emergency exits.
- Thematic Choose-Your-Own Itineraries: To match varying visitor time constraints and group types, the app hosts four pre-programmed thematic tours:

- Express Tour: A fast-track path covering the most famous flagship species for time-restricted visitors.
- Family Tour: A relaxed, child-friendly circuit focused on high-engagement enclosures and rest stops.
- Grand Zoo Tour: A macro, comprehensive walking route that hits every single open exhibit across the park.
- Personalised My Tour Option: An open-ended customizable planner allowing users to cherry-pick specific animals they want to see and auto-generate a custom walking route.
- Kiosk and Cashless Symbiosis: Works alongside the newly inaugurated physical self-ticketing kiosks inside the park. Visitors can stand at a kiosk, activate the park’s free on-the-spot Wi-Fi network, and complete lightning-fast ticket bookings via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) digital scans.
