  • The Democratic Republic of the Congo (officially abbreviated as the DRC and historically known as Zaire) is the second-largest country on the African continent by land area, trailing only Algeria. It is a unitary multiparty republic rich in strategic natural resources, possessing massive global reserves of cobalt, industrial diamonds, copper, and primary rainforests.

Location and Capital:

  • The DRC is situated squarely in Central Africa, astride the Equator.
  • Its capital and administrative center is Kinshasa, the largest city in Central Africa, positioned strategically along the banks of the Congo River.

Border Nations:
