About the JEEVAN App and SHATAYU Dashboard:

What it is?

  • JEEVAN (Joint Elderly Empowerment & Virtual Assistance Network) is an accessible, citizen-facing mobile application engineered to serve as a single-window support ecosystem for senior citizens.
  • SHATAYU (Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training For Your Utility) is a centralized, data-driven national dashboard developed to track, certify, and deploy specialized geriatric caregivers.

Nodal Agency: Developed and managed by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Aim:

  • The unified aim of these platforms is to utilize digital technology to ensure the safety, healthcare access, dignity, and social inclusion of India’s expanding senior citizen population while formalizing the unstructured elderly care sector into a professional, trackable care economy.

Key Features:

  1. JEEVAN Mobile Application
  • Unified Welfare Gateway: Provides a comprehensive repository of all active Central and State Government schemes, pension benefits, and healthcare entitlements for seniors.
  • SOS Emergency Assistance Matrix: Features a simplified, high-visibility, one-touch panic button that directly links elderly users to local emergency services, medical networks, and the national elder helpline.
  • Institutional Home Locator: Lists geo-tagged, verified details of all senior citizen welfare homes and day-care facilities financially supported by the MoSJE.
  • Elder-Centric Accessibility Design: Built specifically with an intuitive user interface, large text fonts, voice-assisted navigation, and simplified screen interactions tailored to elderly sensory needs.
  1. SHATAYU Geriatric Caregiver Dashboard
  • District-Level Micro-Mapping: Allows senior citizens and their families to instantly check the real-time availability of verified geriatric caregivers within their specific district and state.
  • Standardized Training Trackers: Monitors the skill graduation, certification benchmarks, and structural training modules completed by professional caregivers.
  • Care-Economy Integration Hub: Aggregates data from cross-sectoral ecosystem partners, NGOs, and medical skill councils to balance supply and demand metrics in the healthcare sector.
  • Verified Service Directory: Hosts a secure backend directory that validates the background, credentials, and legal compliance of listed service providers to ensure the physical safety of senior users.

Significance:

  • Transitions elderly caregiving out of the unorganized, informal domestic labor sector and into a structured, visible, and regulated economic ecosystem.
  • The SHATAYU dashboard exposes geographical gaps in caregiving talent, allowing the state to direct specialized skill-development camps to underserved rural regions.
