About The JANANI Platform:
What it is?
- JANANI is a service-oriented digital platform developed as an upgraded version of the existing Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) portal. It is designed to monitor and maintain digital health records for women during their reproductive age, capturing key health events across the entire continuum of care.
Ministry: The platform was launched and is managed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Aim: The primary aim of JANANI is to ensure the seamless tracking of maternal and child health services. By enabling continuous monitoring and timely interventions, the platform seeks to improve service coverage, enhance accountability, and contribute to the long-term reduction of maternal and child mortality rates.
Key Features:
- Longitudinal Health Records: Captures service delivery events from antenatal care to family planning, creating a lifetime health history for the beneficiary.
- QR-Enabled Digital MCH Cards: Introduces portable Mother and Child Health cards that allow easy access to records anywhere in India.
- Automated High-Risk Alerts: Features a system to automatically flag high-risk pregnancies for timely medical intervention.
- Interoperability: Integrates seamlessly with other national platforms like U-WIN (immunization) and POSHAN (nutrition) for cross-sectoral monitoring.
- Multiple Registration Modes: Allows beneficiaries to register using unique identifiers such as ABHA, mobile numbers, or Aadhaar (via OTP and biometrics).
- Self-Registration: Empowers citizens to register themselves through dedicated web and mobile applications.
- Real-Time Dashboards: Provides supervisory authorities with real-time data and due-lists to track and monitor service delivery progress.
- Citizen Alerts: Sends reminders for upcoming antenatal visits and immunization milestones to ensure no critical healthcare step is missed.
