Context: The Technology Development Board (TDB) of the Department of Science & Technology has awarded a grant for the collaborative project “ANAGRANINF – Development of a Novel Class of Antibiotics Against Gram-Negative Bacterial-Infections.”
- This initiative aims to foster healthcare innovation through a joint effort between Indian and Spanish companies.
Gram-negative bacteria are prokaryotic organisms that are resistant to multiple drugs and can cause infections like pneumonia and meningitis.
They are a significant public health problem because they can pass along genetic materials that allow other bacteria to become drug-resistant as well.
