Context: India has been ranked 93rd out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2023, according to Transparency International.
- The CPI evaluates countries based on their perceived levels of public sector corruption, using a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).
Highlights from the report:
- In 2023, India’s overall score was 39, a slight decrease from 40 in 2022 when its rank was 85.
- Singapore led the rankings in the Asian region with a score of 83.
- Denmark topped the global rankings.
