New Initiative: Revision Through MCQs (RTM) – Revision of Current Affairs Made Interesting
As revision is the key to success in this exam, we are starting a new initiative where you will revise current affairs effectively through MCQs (RTM) that are solely based on Insights Daily Current Affairs.
These questions will be different than our regular current affairs quiz. These questions are framed to TEST how well you have read and revised Insights Current Affairs on daily basis.
We will post nearly 10 MCQs every day which are based on previous day’s Insights current affairs. Tonight we will be posting RTM questions on the Insights current affairs of October 3, 2019.
The added advantage of this initiative is it will help you solve at least 20 MCQs daily (5 Static + 5 CA Quiz + 10 RTM) – thereby helping you improve your retention as well as elimination and guessing skills.

- Auctioning of coal mines to the private players is done on the basis of the highest price/ tonne.
- 90% of lignite reserves in India occur in eastern parts of India.
How many of the above pairs are correctly matched?

- The 2018 Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs allowed the auctioning of mines to the private players on basis of offer of highest price/ tonne.
- The Coal resources of India are available in older Gondwana Formations of peninsular India and younger tertiary formations of north-eastern region.

Question 3 of 10
3. Question
1 pointsConsider the following statements.
-
- The Speaker of Lok Sabha can suspend the members of the house for disrupting the proceedings of the house.
- The Speaker can also revoke the suspension if she desires.
- In case of Rajya Sabha, the Chairman has the power to suspend the member.
How many of the above statements are correct?
Correct
Ans: (a)
Explanation:
- Only Statement 1 is correct.
- Among the tools available to the Speaker for ensuring discipline is the power to force a member to withdraw from the House (for the remaining part of the day), or to place him under suspension.
- While the Speaker is empowered to place a member under suspension, the authority for revocation of this order is not vested in her. It is for the House, if it so desires, to resolve on a motion to revoke the suspension.
- Unlike the Speaker, the Rajya Sabha Chairman does not have the power to suspend a member. In such a situation, the House may adopt a motion suspending the member from the service of the House for a period not exceeding the remainder of the session. The House may, however, by another motion, terminate the suspension.

Question 8 of 10
8. Question
1 pointsWhat is ‘Starlink’?
Correct
Ans: (c )
Explanation:
- Context: Reliance Jio has successfully demonstrated JioSpaceFiber, India’s first satellite-based gigabit internet service, at the India Mobile Congress.
- This technology, developed in partnership with Luxembourg-based SES, leverages medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites, particularly SES’s O3v and o3b mPOWER networks.
- How is it different from Elong Musk’s Starlink?
- Unlike the more common low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet (e.g., StarLink or OneWeb), JioSpaceFiber uses MEO satellites, orbiting at a greater distance from the planet, which may result in higher latency (latency is the time that data takes to transfer across the network). However, MEO satellites can cover larger areas with fewer satellites.
- To access JioSpaceFiber, a larger satellite dish may be required. Reliance Jio has already connected four remote locations using this technology.
- Starlink is a project initiated by SpaceX, a private aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company led by Elon Musk. The goal of Starlink is to create a massive constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites that can provide high-speed, low-latency internet access to users around the world, particularly in underserved or remote areas.
