Question 4 of 10
4. Question
If all the digits of the number 47623951, are arranged in ascending order from left to right, then 2 is added to the first four digits from left to right of the number and 2 is subtracted to the remaining four digits of the number. Then how many digits are repeating in the number thus formed?
Correct
Solution: C
Given number: 47623951
After rearrangement in ascending order from left to right: 12345679
Adding 2 to first four numbers : 1234 -> 3456Subtracting 2 to remaining four numbers : 5679 -> 3457
Here, the numbers 3, 4, and 5 are repeated twice.
Thus, three numbers are repeated.

Question 6 of 10
6. Question
Find the number of ways of arranging the letters of the word “MATERIAL” such that all the vowels in the word are to come together?
Correct
Solution: B
In the word, “MATERIAL” there are three vowels A, I, E.
If all the vowels are together, the arrangement is MTRL’AAEI’.
Consider AAEI as one unit. The arrangement is as follows.
M T R L A A E I
The above 5 items can be arranged in 5! ways and AAEI can be arranged among themselves in 4!/2! ways.
Number of required ways of arranging the above letters = 5! * 4!/2!
= (120 * 24)/2 = 1440 ways.

Question 7 of 10
7. Question
The sum of digits of two digit number is 10 and difference between the digits is 2. Find the two digit number?
Correct
Solution: B
It is better to answer this kind of question through options.
Let the unit digit of number be: y, and tenth digit number be: x
Therefore, two digit number = 10x + y
Now, it is given that x+y = 10 —(1)
And x-y = 2 ….(2)
Now, adding Eqn (1) and (2), we get 2x= 12 or x= 6
Substituting the value of any of the eqn we get y= 4
Therefore number = 10 * 6 + 4 = 64.

Question 8 of 10
8. Question
A can do a work in 21 days and B can do the same work in 14 days, working together in how many days they would complete the work?
Correct
Solution: C
Let the work done by A for one day = 1/21
Let the work done by B for one day = 1/14.
Therefore, when they work together, their work for one day = 1/21 + 1/14
= (2+3)/42 or 5/42
Therefore, time taken to complete the work = 42/5 = 8. 4 days.
Incorrect
Solution: C
Let the work done by A for one day = 1/21
Let the work done by B for one day = 1/14.
Therefore, when they work together, their work for one day = 1/21 + 1/14
= (2+3)/42 or 5/42
Therefore, time taken to complete the work = 42/5 = 8. 4 days.

Question 9 of 10
9. Question
The number obtained by interchanging the digits of a two digit number is less than the original number by 18. If sum of the digits is 6, what was the original two digit number?
Correct
Solution: C
Let the original number be 10x + y.
Number obtained by interchanging the digits = 10y + x
∴ (10x + y) – (10y + x) = 18
Or, x – y = 2 … (i)
Also, x + y = 6 … (ii)
From equations (i) and (ii),
x = 4 and y = 2.
∴ Original number = (10 x 4) + 2 = 42
Incorrect
Solution: C
Let the original number be 10x + y.
Number obtained by interchanging the digits = 10y + x
∴ (10x + y) – (10y + x) = 18
Or, x – y = 2 … (i)
Also, x + y = 6 … (ii)
From equations (i) and (ii),
x = 4 and y = 2.
∴ Original number = (10 x 4) + 2 = 42

Question 10 of 10
10. Question
The ratio of two numbers is 2:3 and the sum of their cubes is 945. Find the difference between two numbers?
Correct
Solution: B
Let the two numbers be 2x and 3x
Therefore (2x)³ + (3x)³ = 945
Or 8x³+ 27x³ = 945
Or x³ = 945/35 = 27
Therefore, x= 3
Difference between two numbers = 3x – 2x =x
Or Difference = 3
Incorrect
Solution: B
Let the two numbers be 2x and 3x
Therefore (2x)³ + (3x)³ = 945
Or 8x³+ 27x³ = 945
Or x³ = 945/35 = 27
Therefore, x= 3
Difference between two numbers = 3x – 2x =x
Or Difference = 3
