Over one and a half decades ago, a young UPSC CSE aspirant, armed with a dial-up internet connection and a computer decided to take one small step to help fellow aspirants- he started a simple but knowledgeable blog: insightsonindia.
Why Insights on India? This young aspirant loved reading books- infact sometimes he thinks that he read too many General books instead of UPSC books and maybe that’s why he failed to clear the exam…? But he loved reading and this habit had a wonderful by-product: writing! He would love to jot down his thoughts on India and the world: the daily happenings, societal issues, solutions to myriad problems, etc on his blog. And that is how the website and institution we know today as “Insights IAS” was born! Today, that blog has grown to become India’s top website and institution for UPSC CSE aspirants! That young UPSC aspirant was none other than Vinay Kumar GB, or as he is lovingly referred to by students: Vinay Sir!
A simple man from humble beginnings, Sir made a significant impact on the lives of aspiring civil servants. Through his unwavering determination to challenge the status quo, he took a small step that has since grown into a force for change. Insights IAS was founded by Vinay Sir with a mission to democratize access to resources and empower UPSC CSE aspirants regardless of their location or economic background. Sir created a sense of community on the website: a safe space where people could learn from each other without judgment, get their doubts cleared and get their preparation on track. That sense of community and belonging continues to this day- both online on our website and offline in our institutions.
Today, as we celebrate the birthday of Vinay Sir, Team Insights IAS and the aspirant community is grateful for Sir’s tireless efforts, commitment to excellence, and for being a shining illustration of how one must lead by example. Thank you Sir for being a wonderful human who leads with grace & inspires with his wisdom!
