Context: The black panther was rescued and will be released into the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary in South Goa

About the Sanctuary Description
Location Situated in the Sanguem Taluka in Eastern Goa.
River River Netravali or Neturli originates in this sanctuary. It is an important tributary of the Zuari River.
Neighboring Sanctuaries Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary lie to the north.
Waterfalls Has two all-season waterfalls, namely Savri and Mainapi.
Flora Predominantly moist deciduous type forest with patches of semi-evergreen forest in the valleys
Fauna Indian gaur, spotted deer, sambar deer, barking deer, wild boar, black-faced langur, Great Pied Hornbills, Black Panther, Slender Loris and the Giant Squirrel.
Other Protected Areas in Goa Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, Mollem National Park, and Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
About Panther A black panther is the melanistic colour variant (increased development of the dark-coloured pigment) of any Panthera, particularly of the leopard in Asia and Africa, and the jaguar in the Americas.
