A young IAS officer has been posted in the Higher education department. He observes rampant corruption in the allocation of funds to various Universities in the state. He complains to his seniors but found them to be complacent with their political bosses. He becomes frustrated with the corruption and posts a tweet against the present minister and the poor state of affairs in his department. This snowballs into a huge controversy and a departmental inquiry have been initiated against a young IAS officer for posting a tweet. The Department of Personnel and Training found his tweet in violation of the code of conduct for civil servants and has called it “unbecoming.”The officer however has said that he did not trade his integrity for a monthly salary and called the notice an invocation of colonial spirit in democratic India.
