Q4. In a recent notification, the State Public Service Commission (SPSC) has announced that its upcoming exams will be held at the state capital only. The notification for various Group A, B, and C had been announced in the past 3 months. These included a recruitment call for filling up 2563 vacancies in various state departments. Thousands of aspirants all across the state had applied to these posts. The notification back then had mentioned that the exams would be conducted in respective district headquarters too. After a series of malpractices at various centres in the recent months, the SPSC has decided to conduct exams only at designated centres in the state capital. This decision has been unfavorable among the poor aspirants who reside far from the capital, who have to travel at their own expense. This decision though is popular among a section of aspirants who are fed up with increasing instances of malpractices in various government exams. RTI requests from aspirants demanding information regarding previous instances of malpractices, and present methods employed to prevent such practices in designated centres have largely been ignored. Many aspirants have sought the intervention of the High Court on the issue.
