Question 1 of 5
1. Question
If A varies directly as B and inversely as C and A = 6, when B = 2 and C= 3, what is the value of A when B = 8 and C = 6?
Correct
Answer : A
Explanation: Let the constant be x, so putting the first scenario in equation A = x × B/C , we get: 6 = x × 2/3 or x = 9 We can find out A in the second scenario by putting the value of x as 9 A = 9 × 8/6 or A = 12

3. Question
From a group of 7 men and 6 women, five persons are to be selected to form a committee so that at least 3 men are there in the committee. In how many ways can it be done?
Correct
Answer : C
Explanation: From a group of 7 men and 6 women, five persons are to be selected with at least 3 men. Hence we have the following 3 options. We can select 5 men …(option 1) Number of ways to do this = 7C5 We can select 4 men and 1 woman …(option 2) Number of ways to do this = 7C4 × 6C1 We can select 3 men and 2 women …(option 3) Number of ways to do this = 7C3 × 6C2 Total number of ways = 7C5 + (7C4 × 6C1) + (7C3 × 6C2) = 7C2 + (7C3 × 6C1) + (7C3 × 6C2)[∵nCr = nC(n – r) ] =(7×6/2×1)+(7×6×5/3×2×1)×6+(7*6*5/ 3*2*1)* (6*5/2*1) =21+210+525=756

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
In 12 years, M will be thrice as old as N was 12 years ago. If M is now 8 years older than N, the present age of N is (in years):
Correct
Answer : A
Explanation: Let N’s present age = x years. Then, M’s present age = (x + 8) years. ∴ (x + 8) + 12 = 3(x – 12) ⇒ x + 20= 3x – 36 ⇒ 2x =56 ⇒ x=28
Incorrect

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
What is the least value of K. so that 123K578 is divisible by 11.
Correct
Answer : B
Explanation: Given The number is 123K578 The number is divisible by 11 when the difference between the sum of the digit at odd places and the sum of the digit at even places is either 0 or divisible by 11. Difference = the sum of odd the digit at the odd place – the sum of the digit at even place Calculation: Number = 123K578 Odd place digits are 8, 5, 3 and 1. Even place digits are 7, K, and 2 Difference = the sum of odd the digit at the odd place – the sum of the digit at even place ⇒ 0 = (8 + 5 + 3 + 1) – (7 + K + 2) ⇒ 0 = 17 – 9 – K ⇒ K = 8 ∴ The least value of K is 8.
