Question 1 of 5
1. Question
4 men or 6 women or 10 children can paint a house in 5 days. The painting is given to a couple and their 5 sons. They finish the job in
Correct
Answer : b
4 men 6 women = 10 children
1 man = (5/2)children
1 women = (5/3) children
Now, 1 couple + 5 children
=1 man + 1 woman + 5 children
= [(5/2)+(5/3)+5]=(55/6) children
According to the formula,
M1 D1 = M2 D2
10 * 5 = (55/6)*D2
∴D2 = (60/11)=5(5/11)days

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
If 5 boys take 7 h to pack 35 toys, how many boys can pack 65 toys in 3 h?
Correct
Answer: e
Given, M1 = 5, M2 = ?, T1 = 7, T2 = 3
W1 = 35 and W2 = 65
According to the formula,
M1T1W2 = M2T2W1 [by Technique 1]
5 * 7 * 65 = m2 * 3 * 35
∴M2 = [(5 * 7 * 65)/(35 * 3)] = (65/3) boys

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
A and B can complete a work in 8 days, working together. B alone can do it in 12 days. After working for 4 days, B left the work. How many days will A take to complete the remaining work?
Correct
Answer: a
(A+B)’s 1 day’s work = (1/8)
B’s 1 day’s work = (1/12)
∴A’s 1 day’s work = (1/8)-(1/12)=[(3-2)/24]=(1/24)
∴A can complete the work in 24 days.
Now, B’s 4 day’s work = (4/12) = 1/3)
Remaining work =1 – (1/3) = (2/3)
As, time taken by A to complete the work is 24 days
∴Time taken by A to do (2/3) of the work= (2/3)* 24 = 16 days
Incorrect
