Question 1 of 5

1. Question

Harsh wanted to subtract 5 from a number. Unfortunately, he added 5 instead of subtracting. Find the percentage change in the result

Correct

Ans-d

The percentage difference would be given by thinking of the percentage change between two numbers (x-5) to (x + 5) [‘ What he wanted to get’ to what he got by mistake’].

The value of the percentage difference in this depends on the value of x. Hence, this cannot be case answered. Option (d) is correct.

Question 2 of 5

Correct

Ans-c

65% of x = 13% of 2000 0.65 x= 260x = 400

Incorrect

Ans-c

Question 3 of 5

3. Question

91 – 0.3N = N 1.3 N= 91 N = 70.

Question 4 of 5

4. Question

When 60% of a number A is added to another number B, B becomes 175% of its previous value. Then which of the following is true regarding the values of A and B?

Correct

Ans-d

B+ 60% of A = 175% of B 60% of A = 75% of B.

0.6A = 0.75B

A/B = 5/4

Apparently it seems that A is bigger, but if you consider A and B to be negative the opposite would be true.

Hence, option (d) is correct

Incorrect

Ans-d

B+ 60% of A = 175% of B 60% of A = 75% of B.

0.6A = 0.75B

A/B = 5/4

Hence, option (d) is correct

Question 5 of 5

5. Question

A mixture of 125 gallons of wine and water contains 20% water. How much water must be added to the mixture in order to increase the percentage of water to 25% of the new mixture

Correct

Ans-d

In 125 gallons we have 25 gallons water and 100 gallons wine. To increase the percentage of water to 25%, we need to reduce the percentage of wine to =75%. This means that 100 gallons of wine 75% of the new mixture. Thus the total mixture =133.33 gallons. Thus, we need to mx 133.33 – 125 = 8.33

gallons of water in order to make the water equivalent to 25% of the mixture.
