Question 1 of 5
1. Question
A man earned ₹ 6,435, ₹ 6,927, ₹ 7,230, and ₹ 6562 in 5 consecutive months. In order to have an average earning of ₹ 6500 how much should he earn in the 6th month?
Correct
Answer: a) ₹ 4,991
(Earnings in 5 months + Earning in 6th month) / 6 = ₹ 6,500
6,435 + 6,927 + 6,855 + 7,230 + 6,562 + 6th month earning = 6,500 × 6
34,009 + 6th month earning = 39,000
∴ 6th month earning = 39,000 – 34,009
= ₹ 4,991
Incorrect
Answer: a) ₹ 4,991
(Earnings in 5 months + Earning in 6th month) / 6 = ₹ 6,500
6,435 + 6,927 + 6,855 + 7,230 + 6,562 + 6th month earning = 6,500 × 6
34,009 + 6th month earning = 39,000
∴ 6th month earning = 39,000 – 34,009

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
There are 25 students in a college. When a woman is replaced by a man with 72 kg, the average weight was increased by 1.2 kg. find the weight of the outgoing woman.
Correct
Answer: a) 42 kg
Let the average weight of 25 students be ‘x’ kg.
∴ Total weight of 25 students = 25x
(25x – Weight of outgoing woman + 72) / 25 = x + 1.2
25x + 72 – weight of outgoing woman = 25× (x + 1.2)
= 25x + 30
72 – Weight of outgoing woman = 30
∴ Weight of outgoing woman = 72 – 30 = 42 kg
Incorrect
Answer: a) 42 kg
Let the average weight of 25 students be ‘x’ kg.

25x + 72 – weight of outgoing woman = 25× (x + 1.2)
= 25x + 30
72 – Weight of outgoing woman = 30
∴ Weight of outgoing woman = 72 – 30 = 42 kg

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
On an average 510 persons visit a library on Sundays. And on the remaining days it is 240. What is the average number of visitors in a month of 30 days beginning with Sunday?
Correct
Answer: d) 285
Since the month begins with a Sunday, there will be 5 Sundays in that month (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th)
Numbers of visitors on Sundays = 5 × 510 = 2550
Numbers of visitors on the remaining 25 days = 25 × 240 = 6000
∴ Total number of visitors = 2550 + 6000 = 8550
Average number of visitors = 8550/30 = 285
Incorrect
