Question 1 of 5
1. Question
If 6 men and 8 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days while then 26 men and 48 boys can do the same in 2 days, then what is the time taken by 15 men and 20 boys in doing the same type of work?
Correct
Ans: a
6M + 8B = 10 days ………………………………………..(1)
And 26M + 48B = 2 days …………………………………………(2)
15M + 20B = ?
Here, M1D1 = M2D2
(6M+8B)x10 = (26M+48M)x2
60M+80B = 52M+96B
8M=16B
M= 2B
Now, in Eq(1), put M = 2B
6 2B +8B = 10 days
12B+8B=10days
So, 20 B work finish in 10 days
Then, 15M + 20 B = 15 x 2B+20B=30B + 20B=50B
Now, M1D1=M2D2
20×10 = 50x D1
∴D2 = (20 10)/50
D2=4 days

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
Consider the following statements
- If 18 men can earn Rs. 1440 in 5 days, then 10 men can earn Rs. 1280 in 6 days.
- If 16 men can earn Rs. 1120 in 7 days, then 21 men can earn Rs. 800 in 4 days.
Which of the above statement(s) is/are correct?
Correct
Ans: d
- Since, 18 men, in 5 days can earn =Rs. 1440
1 man, in 1 day can earn =Rs. 1440/18 x5
1440 6x 10
∴10 men, in 6 days can earn= [1440/(18x 5)]x6´10 = Rs. 960¹Rs. 1280
- Since, 16 men, in 7 days can earn =Rs. 1120
1 man, in 1 day can earn=1120/(16´7)
∴21men, in 4 days can earn = 1120/(16×7)x21x4 = Rs. 840¹Rs. 800
Incorrect

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
A, B and C can do a piece of work individually in 8, 10 and 15 days, respectively. A and B start working but A quits after working for 2 days. After this, C joins B till the completion of work. In how many days will the work be completed?
Correct
Ans: d
A’s work in one day’s= 1/8, B’s work in one day’s =1/10
C’s work in one day’s = 1/15
(A+ B) ‘s work in one day’s= (1/8)+(1/10) = (5+4)/40 = 9/40
(A+ B)’s work in two days =(2´9)/40 = 9/20
Left work = 1 –(9/20) = 11/20
(B+C)’s work in one day=(1/10)+ (1/15)= 3+2 / 30 = 5/30 = 1/6
Since, (B+C)work together in 6 days.
Because 11/20 work together = 6 x(11/20) = (11 x3)/10 = 33/10 days
∴Total number of days= 2+(33/10) = (20+33)/10 = 53/10 days
Incorrect

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
45 people take 18 days to dig a pond. If the pond would have to be dug in 15 days, then the number of people to be employed will be
Correct
Ans: b
Given that, M1 = 45, D1=18
M2=x, D2=15
By using the formula M1D1 =M2D2
∴M2 = (M1D1)/D2
x = (45 x 18)/15 = 3 x 18 = 54
Incorrect
Ans: b
Given that, M1 = 45, D1=18
M2=x, D2=15
By using the formula M1D1 =M2D2
∴M2 = (M1D1)/D2
x = (45 x 18)/15 = 3 x 18 = 54

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
A and B can do a piece of work in 10 h. B and C can do it in 15 h, while A and C take 12 h to complete the work. B independently can complete the work in
Correct
Ans : d
A’s and B’s 1 h’s work=1/10
B’s and C’s 1 h’s work =1/15
A’s and C’s 1 h’s work =1/12
A’s, B’s and C’s 1 h’s work = 1/2 ( 1/10 +1/15 + 1/12) = (1/2 )x(1/4)=1/8
Hence, B’s work in 1h = 1/8 – 1/12 = 1/24
So, B independently can complete the work in 24 h.
Incorrect
Ans : d
A’s and B’s 1 h’s work=1/10
B’s and C’s 1 h’s work =1/15
A’s and C’s 1 h’s work =1/12
A’s, B’s and C’s 1 h’s work = 1/2 ( 1/10 +1/15 + 1/12) = (1/2 )x(1/4)=1/8
Hence, B’s work in 1h = 1/8 – 1/12 = 1/24
So, B independently can complete the work in 24 h.
