Question 1 of 5

1. Question

Find the average of the first 97 Natural numbers.

Correct

Ans-d

The average would be given by the average of the first and last numbers (since the series 1, 2, 3, 4. ..97 is an Arithmetic Progression).

Hence, the average = (1 +97)/2 = 49

Incorrect

Question 2 of 5

2. Question

Find the average of all prime numbers between 30 and 50.

Correct

Ans-a

We need the average of the numbers: 31, 37, 41, 43 and 47

Average = Total/number of numbers → 199/5 =39.8

Incorrect

Ans-a

We need the average of the numbers: 31, 37, 41, 43 and 47

Average = Total/number of numbers → 199/5 =39.8

Question 3 of 5

3. Question

If we take four numbers, the average of the first three is 16 and that of the last three is 15. If the last number is 18, the first number is

Correct

Ans-b

Let the numbers be a, b, c and d, respectively. a + b + c=16 x 3 = 48 and b + c + d =15x 3 = 45.

Also, since d= 18, we have b +c= 45 -18= 27.

Hence, a= 48-(b + c) →a = 21.

Incorrect

Ans-b

Let the numbers be a, b, c and d, respectively. a + b + c=16 x 3 = 48 and b + c + d =15x 3 = 45.

Also, since d= 18, we have b +c= 45 -18= 27.

Hence, a= 48-(b + c) →a = 21.

Question 4 of 5

4. Question

The average of 5 consecutive numbers is n. If the next two numbers are also included, the average will.

Correct

Ans-a

If the numbers are a + 1, a + 2, a + 3, at 4 and a +5 the average would be a + 3. If we take 7

numbers as:

a + 1, a+ 2, a + 3, a + 4, a + 5, a +6 and a+ 7 their average would be a+4. Hence, the average in-

creases by 1.

Incorrect

Question 5 of 5

5. Question

The average of 50 numbers is 38. If two numbers, namely, 45 and 55 are discarded, the average of the remaining numbers is

Correct

Ans-d

Total of 48 numbers = 50 x 38 – 45 – 55 = 1800.

Average of 48 numbers = 1800/48 = 37.5

Incorrect

Ans-d

Total of 48 numbers = 50 x 38 – 45 – 55 = 1800.

Average of 48 numbers = 1800/48 = 37.5
