It was spring but it was summer I wanted; the warm days and the great outdoors.
It was summer but it was autumn I wanted; the colourful leaves and the cool dry air.
It was autumn but it was winter I wanted; the beautiful snow and the joy of the holiday season.
It was winter but it was spring I wanted; the warmth and the blossoming of nature.
I was a child but it was adulthood I wanted; the freedom and the respect.
I was twenty but it was thirty I wanted; to be mature and sophisticated.
I was middle-aged but it was twenty I wanted; the youth and the free spirit.
I was retired but it was middle-age that I wanted; the presence of mind without limitations.
My life was over but I never got what I wanted.
On this Journey, many times we think ‘when will this struggle end?’, ‘When will I become an officer and reach my goal?’, ‘when will all this insults, disrespect, financial hardships, cycle of failures, mundane preparation process will end?’ and so on and so forth. But many serving and retired bureaucrats recall their UPSC preparation days were the best part of their life.
Accept the fact that Existential force has brought you into this war zone. You need to fight hard. You need to be the best of yourself till now. At the same time, try to make every day as your beautiful day of life. This journey is not all about the end goal, but evolving and living on a day to day basis. We need to be content with whatever we have and wherever we are. It is said that, Life is Nowhere; Life is Now-Here. But we should be putting a thousand fold efforts to reach the destination we are set to. We should find Life not just in the goal, but in the process to reach it.
