Question 1 of 5
1. Question
In a game of 200 points, A can give 40 points to B and 56 points to C. How many points can B give to C ?
Correct
Answer : a
A: B = 200:160
A:C =200 144
∴ (B/C) = (B/A) * (A/C) = (160/200) * (200/144)
= (160/144) = (10/9) = (200/180)
Hence, B can give C 20 points.
Incorrect
Answer : a
A: B = 200:160
A:C =200 144
∴ (B/C) = (B/A) * (A/C) = (160/200) * (200/144)
= (160/144) = (10/9) = (200/180)
Hence, B can give C 20 points.

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
In a game of 160 points, A can give 10 points to B and 30 points to C. How many points B can give C in a game of 60?
Correct
Answer : d
A:B=160:150, A: C = 160 : 130
(B/C) = [(B/A) * (A/C)] = [ (150/160) * (160/130)]
= (15/13) = (60/52) = 60 : 52
∴In a game of 60, B can give C = (60 – 52) = 8 points
Incorrect
Answer : d
A:B=160:150, A: C = 160 : 130
(B/C) = [(B/A) * (A/C)] = [ (150/160) * (160/130)]
= (15/13) = (60/52) = 60 : 52
∴In a game of 60, B can give C = (60 – 52) = 8 points

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
In a 200 m race, A can beat B by 50 m and B can beat C by 8 m. In the same race, A can beat C by what distance?
Correct
Answer : c
According to the question,
A : B = 200 : 150
and B : C = 200 : 192
A : C = [(A/B) * (B/C)] = [ (200/150) * (200/192)] = (200/144)
So, A beats C by 9200 – 144) = 56 m
Incorrect
Answer : c
According to the question,
A : B = 200 : 150
and B : C = 200 : 192
A : C = [(A/B) * (B/C)] = [ (200/150) * (200/192)] = (200/144)
So, A beats C by 9200 – 144) = 56 m

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
A, B and C are three contestants in a 500 m race. If A can give B a start of 20 m and A can give C a start of 32 m, how many metres start can B give to C?
Correct
Answer : c
Given that, a1 = 20m, a2 = 32 m and a3 = ?
According to the formula,
(L – a1) a3 = L ( a2 – a1)
(500 – 20 ) a3 = 500 ( 32 – 20)
480 a3 = 500 *12
a3 = (500 * 12)/480
∴a3 = (50/4) = 12.5 m
Hence, A can give C a start of 12.5 m.
Incorrect

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
In a race of 600 m, A can beat B by 30 m and in a race of 500 m, B can beat C by 25 m. By how many metres will A beat C in a race of 400 m?
Correct
Answer : a
If A runs 600 m, then B runs 570 m
If A runs 400 m, B then runs
[(570/600)*400]m = 380 m
When B runs 500 m, then C runs 475 m
When B runs 380 m, then C runs
[(475/500) * 380] = 361 m
∴A beats C by (400 – 361) = 39 m
Incorrect
