Question 1 of 5
1. Question
A train travelling at a speed of 30 m/s crosses a 600 m long platform in 30 s. Find the length of the train.
Correct
Answer : d
Let length of the train be x m
Relative length of the train = (x + 600) m
According to the question,
(x + 600 )/30 = 30
X + 600 = 900
∴X = 900 – 600 = 300 m
Incorrect
Answer : d
Let length of the train be x m
Relative length of the train = (x + 600) m
According to the question,
(x + 600 )/30 = 30
X + 600 = 900
∴X = 900 – 600 = 300 m

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
A 240 m long train crosses a platform of equal length in 27 8. What is the speed of the train in km/h?
Correct
Answer : d
By the formula, speed = (Distance )/ (Time)
= [(240 + 240 )/2 ] * (18/5)
= (480/27) *(18/5) = 64 km/h
Incorrect
Answer : d
By the formula, speed = (Distance )/ (Time)
= [(240 + 240 )/2 ] * (18/5)
= (480/27) *(18/5) = 64 km/h

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
A train crosses a platform in in 30 s travelling with a speed of 60 k/h. If the length of the train be 200 m, then the length of the platform is
Correct
Answer : c
Speed of train = 60 km/h
= 60 * (5/18) m/s = (50/3) m/s
Let length of the platform be x m
According to the question,
200 + x = (50/3) * 30
200 + x = 500
∴X = 300 m
Incorrect
Answer : c
Speed of train = 60 km/h
= 60 * (5/18) m/s = (50/3) m/s
Let length of the platform be x m
According to the question,
200 + x = (50/3) * 30
200 + x = 500
∴X = 300 m

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
A train crosses a bridge of length 150 m in 15 s and a man standing on it in 9 s. The train is travelling at a uniform speed. Length of the train is
Correct
Answer : a
Let the length of the train be x m
According to the question,
(x/9)= Speed …………….(1)
And (x + 150 )/15 = Speed ……………..(2)
From Eqs. (1) and (2), we get
(x/9) = (x + 150 )/15
(x/3) = (x + 150 )/5
5x = 3x + 450
X = 225m
Incorrect
Answer : a
Let the length of the train be x m
According to the question,
(x/9)= Speed …………….(1)
And (x + 150 )/15 = Speed ……………..(2)
From Eqs. (1) and (2), we get
(x/9) = (x + 150 )/15
(x/3) = (x + 150 )/5
5x = 3x + 450
X = 225m
