Question 1 of 5
1. Question
A train covers 90 m in passing a standing man. Find the length of the train.
Correct
Answer : d
We know that, the distance covered by a train in passing a pole or a standing man or a signal post or any other object (of negligible length) is equal to the length of the train. In this case, train covers 90 m to cross a standing man.
∴Length of the train= 90 m

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
A 220 m long train passes a signal post in 12 s. Find the speed of the train.
Correct
Answer : c
We know that,
Speed = (Distance)/(Time)
Speed of the train =[ (220)/(12 )] * [(18)/(5)] = 66 km/h
Incorrect
Answer : c
We know that,
Speed = (Distance)/(Time)
Speed of the train =[ (220)/(12 )] * [(18)/(5)] = 66 km/h

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
A train takes 9 s to cross a pole. If the speed of the train is 48 km/h, then length of the train is
Correct
Answer : b
Let the length of the train be x m.
Now, speed = 48 km/h = 48 * (5/18) m/s
Train takes 9 s to cross a pole.
Length of train, x = Speed x Time = 48 * (5/18) * 9 = 120 m
Incorrect
Answer : b
Let the length of the train be x m.
Now, speed = 48 km/h = 48 * (5/18) m/s
Train takes 9 s to cross a pole.
Length of train, x = Speed x Time = 48 * (5/18) * 9 = 120 m

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
A train running at the speed of 72 km/h goes past a pole in 15 s. What is the length of the train?
Correct
Answer : c
Speed of train = (Length of train )/ (Time taken to cross the stationary object)
∴Length of train = Speed of train x Time
taken to cross the stationary object = (72 * 5 * 15 )/18 = 300 m
Incorrect
Answer : c
Speed of train = (Length of train )/ (Time taken to cross the stationary object)
∴Length of train = Speed of train x Time
taken to cross the stationary object = (72 * 5 * 15 )/18 = 300 m

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
150 m long train running with the speed of 90 km/h to cross a bridge in 26s. What is the length of the bridge?
Correct
Answer : a
Let length of bridge be x m.
We know, speed = (Distance )/Time
According to the question, 90 * (5/18) = (150 + x )/26
25 * 26 = 150 + x
650 = 150 + x
∴ x = 500 m
Incorrect
Answer : a
Let length of bridge be x m.
We know, speed = (Distance )/Time
According to the question, 90 * (5/18) = (150 + x )/26
25 * 26 = 150 + x
650 = 150 + x
∴ x = 500 m
