Once upon the time, there was an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbours came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically.
“Maybe,” the farmer replied.
The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbours exclaimed.
“Maybe,” replied the old man.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbours again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune.
“Maybe,” answered the farmer.
The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbours congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out.
“Maybe,” said the farmer.
By jumping into the preparation process of UPSC, you take the path of shooting to the stars, you opt-out from the campus placements, you risk your professional career by taking months together long leaves, you miss the family functions and friends groups trips, you lock yourself to the mountains of books, you work Day-In & Day-Out for this single Dream. You give everything you have for this MAHA-YAJNA. But still, you may flunk in the Prelims or Mains or Interview stage. Sometimes, success appears so close yet remains so far. You monologue “Why me only? Am I not eligible for this Dream? Why fate is so cruel on me?”.
But Existential force always knows what is best for us. If we missed prelims-2020 means, maybe we have to strengthen our Optionals and GS for the Mains-2021. If we are missing Mains means, maybe we have to make our personality more resilient for the Interview process. In the worst case, if we can’t clear the UPSC exam even after multiple attempts, maybe a better life is awaiting outside for us(this is true with many live examples).
When things happen, we have to accept them in a positive tone. Then only doors of possibilities will open. Else we suffer a lot. Suffering reduces our efforts. It keeps us away from success. Even, if you become a bureaucrat, some things will happen beyond your control. But you need to stay optimistic. Your confidence level keeps the morale and energy level of your subordinates high. Optimism should be a shining trait of your personality.
The gist of all religions, mainly Bhagavad Geeta is this ”Whatever happened, happening, will happen is for the Good only”. But we need to believe the plan of Existential Force in Totality.
