Question 1 of 5
1. Question
Out of two sections A and B, 10 students of section B shift to A, as a result strength of A becomes 3 times the strength of B. But, if 10 students shift over from A to B, both A and B become equal in strength. Ratio of the number of students in section A that of section B is
Correct
Answer : a
A + 10 = 3 (B- 10)
A – 3B = – 20 ………………( 1 )
And (A – 10) = (B + 10)
A – B = 20 ……………. ( 2 )
On subtracting Eq. (2) from Eq. (1), we get
A – 3B – A + B = – 20 – 20
– 2B = – 40
B = 20
Now, by using Eq. (ii),
A = 20 + 20 = 40.
: Ratio of the numbers of students of A and
B = 40 : 20 = 2:1

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
Nandita scores 80% marks in five subjects together, viz., Hindi, Science, Mathematics, English and Sanskrit,
where in the maximum marks of each subject were 105. How many marks did Nandita score in Science, if she scored 89 marks in Sanskrit, 98 marks in Mathematics and 81 marks in English?
Correct
Answer : a
Total of maximum marks of all subjects
= 105 x 5 = 525
80% of 525 = ( 525 ´ 80 )/ 100 = 420
Obtained marks of four subjects (Hindi,
Sanskrit, Mathematics and English)
= 89 + 92 + 98+81 = 360
So, the obtained marks in Science
= 420 – 360 = 60
Incorrect
Answer : a
Total of maximum marks of all subjects
= 105 x 5 = 525
80% of 525 = ( 525 ´ 80 )/ 100 = 420
Obtained marks of four subjects (Hindi,
Sanskrit, Mathematics and English)
= 89 + 92 + 98+81 = 360
So, the obtained marks in Science
= 420 – 360 = 60
Question 4 of 5
4. Question
Rs.2186 are distributed among A, B and C. If money given to them is decreased by Rs. 26, Rs. 28 and Rs. 32 respectively, then they have money in the ratio of 9: 13: 8. What is the amount given to A?
Correct
Answer : c
Amount given to A = 9K + 26
Amount given to B = 13K + 28
and amount given to C = 8K + 32
According to the question,
(9K + 26) + (13K + 28) + (8K + 32)
= 2186
30K + 86 = 2186
30K = 2100
\K = 70
Hence, amount given to A = 9K + 26
= 9 x 70 + 26
= 630 + 26 = Rs. 656
Incorrect
Answer : c
Amount given to A = 9K + 26
Amount given to B = 13K + 28
and amount given to C = 8K + 32
According to the question,
(9K + 26) + (13K + 28) + (8K + 32)
= 2186
30K + 86 = 2186
30K = 2100
\K = 70
Hence, amount given to A = 9K + 26
= 9 x 70 + 26
= 630 + 26 = Rs. 656
Question 5 of 5
5. Question
A person gave 2/5 part of his income to his elder son and 30% part to his younger son. He saved his remaining money in three trusts A, B and C in the ratio of 3:5:2. If difference between the amoun got by his both sons is 2000, how much amount he saved in trust C?
Correct
Answer : c
Let the person have Rs.x.
Then, share of elder son = Rs. 2x/5
and share of younger son = Rs. 3x/10
Acccrding to the question,
(2x/5) – (3x/10 )= 2000
x/10 = 2000
x = 20000
Remaining amount saved in trusts
Incorrect
