Question 1 of 5
1. Question
Five years ago, the average age of P and Q was 15 yr. Now, average age of P, Q and R is 20 yr. What would be the age of R after 10 yr?
Correct
Answer : c
According to the question,
[(P + Q)/2] – 5 = 15
(P + Q ) / 2 = 20
P + Q = 40 …………………( 1 )
And ( P + Q + R )/3 = 20
P + Q + R = 60 …………………. ( 2 )
On solving Eqns. ( 1 ) and ( 2 ), we get R = 20 yr
∴Age of R after 10 yr from now = 20 + 10 = 30 yr
Incorrect

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
The average of four positive integers is 73.5. The highest integer is 108 and the lowest integer is 29. The difference between the remaining two integers is 15. Which of the following is the smaller of the remaining two integers?
Correct
Answer : D
Let one integer be x.
∴ Other integer = x + 15
According to the question,
29 + x + x + 15 + 108 = 4 ´ 73.5
2x + 152 = 294
2x = 294 -152 = 142
x = 142/2 = 71
Incorrect
Answer : D
Let one integer be x.
∴ Other integer = x + 15
According to the question,
29 + x + x + 15 + 108 = 4 ´ 73.5
2x + 152 = 294
2x = 294 -152 = 142
x = 142/2 = 71
Question 3 of 5
3. Question
The daily minimum temperature of a place in a certain week, beginning from Monday was 20°, 18.6°, 17°, 21.4°, 19° and 19.8°. It was known that the average of the whole week was 19.5 ° . The minimum temperature on Sunday was
The average age of two boys and their father is greater than the average age of those two boys and their mother by 3 yr. The average age of the four is 19 yr, If the average age of the two boys be 5 and half yr, then find the age of the father and mother.
Correct
Answer : a
Let the ages of mother, father and boys be M, F, B1 AND B2, respectively.
The total age of four numbers = 19 ´ 4 = 76 yr
Given, ( B1 + B1 )/2 = 11/2
B1 + B2 = 11
M + F + B1 + B2 = 76
M + F = 76 – 11
M + F = 65
According to the question,
( B1 + B2 + F )/3 = [( B1 + B2 + M )/3] + 3
B1 +B2 + F = B1 + B2 + M + 9
F = M + 9
F – M = 9
From Eqs. ( 1 ) and ( 2 ), we get
F = 37 yr and M = 28 yr

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
The average salary of the entire staff in an office is Rs. 500 per day. The average salary of officers is Rs. 750 and that of non-officers is Rs. 250. If the number of officers is 15, then find the number of non-officers in the office.
Correct
Answer :c
Let number of non – officers = x
Then, 250x + 750 ´ 15 = 500 ( 15 + x )
250x + 11250 = 7500 + 250x
11250 – 7500 = 500x – 250x
3750 = 250x
X = (3750/250)
\x = 15
Incorrect
Answer :c
Let number of non – officers = x
Then, 250x + 750 ´ 15 = 500 ( 15 + x )
250x + 11250 = 7500 + 250x
11250 – 7500 = 500x – 250x
3750 = 250x
X = (3750/250)
\x = 15
