Question 2 of 5
2. Question
The cost of 13 chairs and 5 tables is ₹ 8,280. The average price per table is ₹ 1,227. What is the average price per chair?
Correct
Answer: b)
Total cost of 5 tables = 5 × ₹ 1,227 = ₹ 6,135
13 chairs + 5 tables = ₹ 8,280
13 chairs = ₹ 8,280 – ₹ 6,135
= ₹ 2,145
∴ The average price per chair = ₹ 2,145/13
= ₹ 165
Incorrect
Answer: b)
Total cost of 5 tables = 5 × ₹ 1,227 = ₹ 6,135
13 chairs + 5 tables = ₹ 8,280
13 chairs = ₹ 8,280 – ₹ 6,135
= ₹ 2,145
∴ The average price per chair = ₹ 2,145/13
= ₹ 165

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
On an average 510 persons visit a library on Sundays. And on the remaining days it is 240. What is the average number of visitors in a month of 30 days beginning with Sunday?
Correct
Answer: d)
Since the month begins with a Sunday, there will be 5 Sundays in that month (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th)
Numbers of visitors on Sundays = 5 × 510 = 2550
Numbers of visitors on the remaining 25 days = 25 × 240 = 6000
∴ Total number of visitors = 2550 + 6000 = 8550
Average number of visitors = 8550/30 = 285
Incorrect
Answer: d)

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
When a man with 53 kg was replaced by a new man, the average weight of 10 persons is increased by 1.8 kg. Find the weight of the new man.
Correct
Answer: a)
Let the average weight of 10 persons be ‘x’. Then, the total weight of 10 persons will be ‘10x’ kg.
(10x – 53 + New man’s weight) /10 = x + 1.8
10x – 53 + New man’s weight = 10x + 18
∴ New man’s weight = 18 + 53 = 71
Incorrect
Answer: a)
Let the average weight of 10 persons be ‘x’. Then, the total weight of 10 persons will be ‘10x’ kg.
(10x – 53 + New man’s weight) /10 = x + 1.8
10x – 53 + New man’s weight = 10x + 18
∴ New man’s weight = 18 + 53 = 71

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
The average age of 30 students in a class is 12 years. Sumith aged 20 years left the class. Ankur and Babu joined the class. The difference between the ages of Ankur and babu is 4 years. The average of the class is still the same. What is the age of Babu who is younger to Ankur?
Correct
Answer: b) 14 years
Total age of all the 30 students = 12 × 30 = 360
Babu’s age = Ankur’s age – 4
∴ Ankur’s age = Babu’s age + 4
(360 – Sumit’s age + Ankur’s age + Babu’s age)/31 = 12 years
360 – 20 + Ankur + Babu = 12 × 31 = 372
340 + Babu + 4 + Babu = 372
2 Babu + 344 = 372
2 Babu = 372 – 344 = 28
∴ Babu’s age = 28/2 = 14 years
Incorrect
Answer: b) 14 years
Total age of all the 30 students = 12 × 30 = 360
Babu’s age = Ankur’s age – 4
∴ Ankur’s age = Babu’s age + 4
(360 – Sumit’s age + Ankur’s age + Babu’s age)/31 = 12 years
360 – 20 + Ankur + Babu = 12 × 31 = 372
340 + Babu + 4 + Babu = 372
2 Babu + 344 = 372
2 Babu = 372 – 344 = 28
∴ Babu’s age = 28/2 = 14 years
