Question 1 of 5
1. Question
Wheat is now being sold at Rs. 27 per kg. During last month, its cost was Rs.24 per kg. Find by how much per cent a family reduces its consumption, so as to keep the expenditure fixed.
Correct
Answer: d
Old price of rice = Rs 24/kg
New price of rice = Rs 27 per/kg
∴Increases in price of rice =New price
Old price =27 -24 = Rs 3/kg
∴Increased percentage in price
=3/24 * 100 = 12 1/2%
Now, reduction in consumption, so as to keep the expenditure fixed.
According to the formula,
(a/(100+a) * 100) %
(125/(100+125) * 100) % = 11.1%

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
In a class of 40 students and 5 teachers, each student got sweet that are 15% of the total number of students. And each teacher got sweets that are 20% of the total number of students. How many sweets were there?
Correct
Answer:a
Number of sweets received by every student = 15% of 40 = (40*15)/100 = 6
∴ Number of sweets received by 40 students = 40 *6 = 240
Number of sweets received by each teacher = 20% of 40 = (40*20)/100 = 8
∴Number of sweets received by 5 teachers = 8*5=40
∴Total number of sweets = 240 + 40 = 280
Incorrect
Answer:a
Number of sweets received by every student = 15% of 40 = (40*15)/100 = 6
∴ Number of sweets received by 40 students = 40 *6 = 240
Number of sweets received by each teacher = 20% of 40 = (40*20)/100 = 8
∴Number of sweets received by 5 teachers = 8*5=40
∴Total number of sweets = 240 + 40 = 280

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
The price of gee is increased by 32%. Therefore, a family reduces its consumption, so that the increment in price of gee is only 10%. If consumption of gee is 10 kg before the increment, then what is the consumption now?
Correct
Answer:a
Let price of ghee before increment = Rs. X
Consumption = 10 kg
Then, expenditure on ghee = Rs. 10x
After increment,
Expenditure on ghee = 110% 10x = 11x
Price of ghee = 132% of x = x * 132/100
= 33x/25 peer kg
\New consumption = (11*25)/33x kg
= 8 1/3kg
Incorrect

Then, expenditure on ghee = Rs. 10x
After increment,
Expenditure on ghee = 110% 10x = 11x
Price of ghee = 132% of x = x * 132/100
