Question 1 of 5
1. Question
In a town, 80% of the population are adults of which the men and women are in the ratio of 9:7, respectively. If the number of adults women is 4.2 lakh, what is the total population of the town?
Correct
Answer : a
Let the Number of adults men be = x
Then, ratio of the numbers of adults men and women :
9:7 = x : 4.2
X = 9/7*4.2
X = 5.4 lakh
Total adult population = 4.2 + 5.4 = 9.6 lakh
If the population of the town be y lakh, then 80y/100 = 9.6
Y =96*100/80 = 12 lakh
Incorrect
Answer : a
Let the Number of adults men be = x
Then, ratio of the numbers of adults men and women :
9:7 = x : 4.2
X = 9/7*4.2
X = 5.4 lakh
Total adult population = 4.2 + 5.4 = 9.6 lakh
If the population of the town be y lakh, then 80y/100 = 9.6
Y =96*100/80 = 12 lakh

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
Rs. 600 are divided among A, B and C such that Rs. 40 more than 2/5th of A’s share, Rs. 20 more than 2/7th of B’s share and rs10 more than 9/17th Of C’sshare , all are equal. What is B’s share?
Correct
Answer : c
Now According to Question : 2/5 A + 40 = 7/2B + 20 = 9/17 C + 10 = k
When 2/5A + 40 = k
A = 5/2 ( k – 40 )
2/7B + 20 = k
B =7/2 ( k – 20 )
9/17 c + 10 = k
C = 17/9 ( k – 10 )
According to the question : A + B + C = 600
5/2(k-40)+7/2(k-20)+17/9(k-10)=600
45 ( K – 40 ) + 63 ( K – 20 ) + 34 ( K – 10 ) = 10800
45K – 1800 + 63K – 1260 + 34K – 340 = 10800
142K – 3400 = 10800
142K = 14200
K = 14200/142 = 100

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
Salaries of Akash, Bablu and Chintu are in the ratio of 2:3:5. If their salaries were increased by 15%, 10% and 20% respectively, then what will be the new ratio of their salaries?
Correct
Answer : b
Ratio of salaries
Akash : Babloo : Chintu = 2:3:5
Let the common ratio be x.
Then, salaries of Akash, Babloo and Chintu
Will be 2x, 3x and 5x, respectively.
Now 15% increase in Akash’s salary
15% of 2x = 15*2x/100= 0.3x
So, New salary = 2x + 0.3x = 2.3x
Also, 10% increase in Babloo’s salary = 10% of 3x = 10*3x/100 = 0.3x
New salary =3x+0.3x=3.3x
Agin 20% increase in chintu’s salary
=20% of 5x
=20*5x/100=1x
So new salary = 5x + x =6x
So New ratio = Ratio of new salaries = 2.3x : 3.3x : 6x
On multiplying with 10 and dividing by x ratio will be 23:33:60.
Incorrect

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
Salary of Mr. X is 80% of the salary of Mr. Y and the salary of Mr. Z is 120% of the salary of Mr. X. What is the ratio between the salaries of X, Y and Z, respectively?
Correct
Answer : d
Let Y’s salary = 100
X’s salary = 80
And Z’s salary = 80*120/100 = 96
So Required ratio = 80 : 100 : 96 = 20 : 25 : 24
Incorrect
Answer : d
Let Y’s salary = 100
X’s salary = 80
And Z’s salary = 80*120/100 = 96
So Required ratio = 80 : 100 : 96 = 20 : 25 : 24

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
Cat takes 5 leaps for every 4 leap of a dog but 3 leaps of the dog are equal to 4 leaps of the cat. What is the ratio of the speeds of the cat to that of the dog?
Correct
Answer: d
4 leaps of cat = 3 leaps of dog
1 leap of cat = 3/4 leap of dog
Cat takes 5 leaps for every 4 leaps of dog
So Required ratio = ( 5 x Cat’s leap ) : ( 4x Dog’s leap
= ( 5 x3/4 dog’s leap ) : ( 4 x Dog’s leap )
= 15 :16
Incorrect
Answer: d
4 leaps of cat = 3 leaps of dog
1 leap of cat = 3/4 leap of dog
Cat takes 5 leaps for every 4 leaps of dog
So Required ratio = ( 5 x Cat’s leap ) : ( 4x Dog’s leap
= ( 5 x3/4 dog’s leap ) : ( 4 x Dog’s leap )
= 15 :16
