Question 1 of 5
1. Question
3yr ago, the average age of a family of 5 members was 17 yr. Even after the birth of a child, the average is same today. Find out the age of child.
Correct
Answer : d
Before 3 years
Total age of 5 members of a family = 17*5
= 85 years.
Present age of all family members = 85 + 3* 5
= 85 + 15
= 100 yr.
Average is same after child birth
So let the age of the child = x year
New total family member will be = 6
Average = sum/total
17 = x+100/6
17* 6 = x + 100
X = 102 – 100
X = 2 year.
Incorrect
Answer : d
Before 3 years
Total age of 5 members of a family = 17*5
= 85 years.
Present age of all family members = 85 + 3* 5
= 85 + 15
= 100 yr.
Average is same after child birth
So let the age of the child = x year
New total family member will be = 6
Average = sum/total
17 = x+100/6
17* 6 = x + 100
X = 102 – 100
X = 2 year.

Question 2 of 5
2. Question
The average age of three boys is 15yr. If the ratio of their ages is 3:5:7, what is the age of the oldest boy?
Correct
Answer : d
Average age of three boys = 15 years
Average = sum/ total
15 = sum/3
Sum of three boys = 15 *3
= 45 years.
Now the ratios are 3:5:7
So let the age of 1st person be = 3x
2nd person be = 5x
3rd person be = 7x
So sum will be –
3x + 5x +7x = 15x
Now as we know that sum is = 45 years.
So now both sum will be equal.
15x = 45
X = 45/15 = 3
X = 3 years
Respective ages will be = 3 * 3 = 9 years
2nd = 3 *5 = 15 years
3rd = 3 * 7 = 21 years
Incorrect

3rd = 3 * 7 = 21 years

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
5 yr ago, the average age of Rashmi and Surbhi was 20 yr. Now, the average age of Rashmi ,Meeta and Surbhi is 30yr. What will be the age of Meeta after 15yr?
Correct
Answer : b
5 year ago, the sum of Rashmi and Surabhi’s
Age will be : 20 *2
= 40 years
Now present age of Rashmi, Surabhi will be = 40 +5* 5
= 50 year
Now Average age of Rashmi, Surabhji & Meeta = 30 years ( given )
So sum of Rashmi . Surabhi , & Meeta = 30 * 3
= 90 years.
So age of Meeta will be = 90 – 50 =40 years
After 15 years age of Meeta will be = 40 + 15
= 55 years
Incorrect
= 90 years.
So age of Meeta will be = 90 – 50 =40 years
After 15 years age of Meeta will be = 40 + 15
= 55 years

Question 4 of 5
4. Question
The average weight of 60 students in a class was calculated to be 40 kg. Later, it was found out that the weight of one of the students was calculated as 36 kg, whereas his actual weight was 33kg. What is the actual average weight of the students in the class ?
Correct
Answer : b
Average = sum/total no of observation
Average weight of 60 students = 40 kg
40 = sum/60
So sum of 60 students will be = 40 * 60
= 2400
But here 36kg is calculated and there should be 33kg.
So Now New sum = 2400 – 36 + 33
= 2400 – 3
= 2397 kg
So Required average weight = 2397/60
= 39.95 kg.
Incorrect
Answer : b
Average = sum/total no of observation
Average weight of 60 students = 40 kg
40 = sum/60
So sum of 60 students will be = 40 * 60
= 2400
But here 36kg is calculated and there should be 33kg.
So Now New sum = 2400 – 36 + 33
= 2400 – 3
= 2397 kg
So Required average weight = 2397/60
= 39.95 kg.

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
A person bought some oranges worth Rs.36 from each of the five markets at Rs. 1, Rs. 1.50, Rs. 1.80, Rs. 2 and Rs. 2.25 per orange, respectively. What is the average price of an orange ?
Correct
Answer : c
No of oranges bought by the person =36/1 +36/1.5 +36/1.8 +36/2 +36/2.25
= 36 + 24 + 20 + 18 + 16
= 114
Total Expenditure = 36 *5 = 180 Rs.
Thus. Average price of each orange = 180/114 = 1.58 Rs
Incorrect
Answer : c
No of oranges bought by the person =36/1 +36/1.5 +36/1.8 +36/2 +36/2.25
= 36 + 24 + 20 + 18 + 16
= 114
Total Expenditure = 36 *5 = 180 Rs.
Thus. Average price of each orange = 180/114 = 1.58 Rs
