Question 3 of 30
3. Question
1 pointsConsider the following statements regarding Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
- There will be a uniform premium of only 2% to be paid by farmers for all Kharif crops and 1.5% for all Rabi crops.
- There is upper limit on Government subsidy.
- It is compulsory for farmers in the notified area who possess a Crop Loan account/KCC account to whom credit limit is sanctioned/renewed.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
Correct
Solution: C
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana:
The new Crop Insurance Scheme is in line with One Nation – One Scheme theme. It incorporates the best features of all previous schemes and at the same time, all previous shortcomings / weaknesses have been removed. The PMFBY will replace the existing two schemes National Agricultural Insurance Scheme as well as the Modified NAIS.
There will be a uniform premium of only 2% to be paid by farmers for all Kharif crops and 1.5% for all Rabi crops. In case of annual commercial and horticultural crops, the premium to be paid by farmers will be only 5%. The premium rates to be paid by farmers are very low and balance premium will be paid by the Government to provide full insured amount to the farmers against crop loss on account of natural calamities.
There is no upper limit on Government subsidy. Even if the balance premium is 90%, it will be borne by the Government.
Earlier, there was a provision of capping the premium rate which resulted in low claims being paid to farmers. This capping was done to limit Government outgo on the premium subsidy. This capping has now been removed and farmers will get a claim against full sum insured without any reduction.
The use of technology will be encouraged to a great extent. Smartphones will be used to capture and upload data of crop cutting to reduce the delays in claim payment to farmers. Remote sensing will be used to reduce the number of crop cutting experiments.
PMFBY is a replacement scheme of NAIS / MNAIS, there will be exemption from Service Tax liability of all the services involved in the implementation of the scheme. It is estimated that the new scheme will ensure about 75-80 per cent of subsidy for the farmers in insurance premium.
Farmers to be coveredRecently, Enrolment under the Scheme is made voluntary for all farmers (Both PMFBY/RWBCIS).

25. Question
1 pointsThe Brown to Green Report 2019 has been released by
Correct
Solution: C
The 2019 Brown to Green Report has been published by the Climate Transparency partnership, an international research collaboration. The report is the most comprehensive review of G20 countries’ climate performance, mapping achievements and drawbacks in their efforts to reduce emissions, adapt to climate impacts and green the financial system.
Key findings:
- Carbon emissions from the world’s 20 biggest economies, including India, are rising.
- None of the G20 countries have plans that will help them achieve the target. Many of the current 2030 climate targets under the Paris Agreement (Nationally Determined Contributions or NDCs) are too weak, with about half of the G20 countries projected to meet or overachieve their inadequate NDCs.
- Energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in G20 countries shot up by 1.8 per cent in 2018 due to rising energy demand.
- Energy supply is not getting cleaner: despite a more than five per cent rise in G20 total renewable energy supply in 2018, the share of fossil fuels in the G20 energy mix remains at 82 per cent.
- While renewables now account for 25.5 per cent of power generation, this is not sufficient to outweigh the growth of emissions from fossil fuel sources.
- Low-carbon fuels need to increase roughly 10 times by 2050 to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
- G20 emissions in the building sector grew more than in any other sector in 2018 (4.1 per cent). Retrofitting existing buildings challenges all G20 and especially OECD countries. New buildings have to be near zero-energy by 2020-25 to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees.

28. Question
1 pointsRamesh bought an article for Rs. 1215 and spent Rs. 35 on its transportation. At what price should he sell the article to have a gain of 16%?
Correct
Solution: B
Effective cost price = Cost Price (Ramesh bought) + Transportation Cost
= Rs. 1215 + Rs. 35 = 1250
He needs 16 % profit on the cost price.
Selling Price, S.P = [(100 + Gain%) / 100] * C.P

He needs 16 % profit on the cost price.
Selling Price, S.P = [(100 + Gain%) / 100] * C.P

Question 29 of 30
29. Question
1 pointsA person bought a cycle for Rs. 1200 and paid some extra 300 Rs for its repair works. He sold the cycle for Rs. 1800. Find the profit percentage?
Correct
Solution: B
Effective Cost Price= Cost price + Repair Price
= 1200 + 300
= 1500
Selling price = Rs 1800
Therefore, profit amount = (Rs 1800 – Rs 1500) = Rs 300
Thus, profit percent = (300/1500) * 100
Or 100/5 = 20 %
Incorrect
Solution: B
Effective Cost Price= Cost price + Repair Price
= 1200 + 300
= 1500
Selling price = Rs 1800
Therefore, profit amount = (Rs 1800 – Rs 1500) = Rs 300
Thus, profit percent = (300/1500) * 100
Or 100/5 = 20 %
