Write an essay on the following topic in not more than 1000-1200 words:

Immigration is Not a Threat, but Fundamentally it’s an Economic Issue

Hint to Topic:

In the light of perceived threats of war induced (ethnic, civil, terrorist) immigration around the world, you should analyse if immigration is really a threat or just an economic issue that can be resolved amicably.

In the essay you should first find reasons why immigration is perceived as a threat. Then, argue – based on facts – if it’s threat or not. As you discuss if it’s threat or not, start exploring economic angle of immigration story. It’s economic benefits, or losses; it’s economic costs for host country; etc.

Analyse the role migrants play in economic growth. Then establish relationship between migrants, economy and politics. While trying to establish relationship, explore examples from Americas to Europe to Middle East to India to China. From these examples, identify different dimensions (Rohingya has different dimension compared to Venezuelan migration crisis).

Migration as an economic issue should not be seen only from host country’s perspective. Analyse it from country of origin’s perspective too.

Most important point before you venture to write this essay – do properly understand difference between migration, immigration, emigration.

Wish you all the best!
