Insights Revision Plan for UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2017
You already know that revision plays key role in making or breaking your chances in civil services exam. But very few people do actual revision. Because of the fear of ‘Not covering this and that topic’ – most aspirants end up reading lots and lots of stuff until the day of exam. But, they don’t revise more than 80 percent of topics they read. Hence, when they go to exam they lack conviction and clarity to choose a right option with confidence. This results in more negative marking.
Therefore, it is vital to revise few things which you have already read repeatedly than forcing your brain to read new things constantly.
Here our intent is to enable you to both deepen and broaden your knowledge base. Questions which we are going to post daily will test this aspect thoroughly. We will post questions only with the intent to test your revision efforts. If you revise properly, you will be able to score nicely.
The following Timetable is planned based on following assumptions:
That,
a) You are solving Insights Prelims tests regularly, or intend to solve them before Prelims 2017
b) You are regularly following ours or others’ current affairs from past one year
c) You are reading our current affairs modules which we recently started posting
d) You have completed at least one time reading all relevant NCERT textbooks.
e) You have read Indian Polity by Laxmikanth and any standard history (such as Bipan Chandra or Spectrum) and Economy book (Sanjiv Verma or Ramesh Singh)
d) You have not done 2-3 above tasks, but has the will, courage and motivation to work very hard to make sure at any cost that you want to clear prelims this time.
Objective of this Timetable:
The main objective is to improve your confidence levels by many folds. Stick to this timetable for 10 days, you will see the change. You will see improvements in test scores. This conclusion is based on our observation at our offline classes. Those who revise often, score better.
Another objective is to make you do more in less time. We have seen toppers dedicating last 1-2 months exclusively for prelims. Best way to study a lot is to solve as many questions as possible. But, you should not go on solving 5000 questions without every revising them! That would be a totally wasteful exercise. Instead you should revise at least 2-3 times a single test series that has more questions and in addition to it solve one more test series at least one time.
In this timetable we will force you to solve all our tests at least 3 times. As our solutions are pretty detailed, you will be learning more by solving them than scouting many books for content.
Here, the approach is simple: If we ask you to read a particular topic, you will take hours to read, research and remember the topic. Instead, we are asking you to revise things you have already done or doing, such as solving tests again. Even if you haven’t solved our tests, start doing them now. In one place, you will get vast repository of knowledge. Revising questions and solutions will give you immense confidence.
What does this Plan include?
- Three times Revision of Insights Prelims Test Series – 2017
- Two times revision of Current affairs from June 2016 to May 2017
- Two times revision of Insights current affairs modules
- Two times revision of Economy, Polity, Geography, Art and culture, and Modern History
- One time revision of Previous CSAT and GS paper
- One time revision of Economic Survey, India 2017 and Test papers of any other test series of your preference
If you dedicate yourself to this revision plan, be sure of scoring very good marks in Prelims 2017. To follow this plan, it requires around 10-12 hours of your time every day during next 45 days.
To revise two of our tests for the first time, it takes nearly 5-6 hours. Next revisions will take less and lesser time. So, don’t panic in the beginning when you feel that you are spending lots of time on our tests. All efforts is worth it. Study solutions carefully and try to frame questions in mind.
Twenty questions on daily basis:
Based on previous day’s syllabus, every day we will post twenty questions. Out of these twenty questions, around Five will be from Insights test solutions, Ten from current affairs, Five each from other topics.
These questions will be posted at 10 PM Daily.
NOTE: Timetable appears overwhelming, but do read it fully. This time we have not burdened you with lots of targets. This timetable is prepared after getting feedback from some of our offline students. It’s more practical and result oriented. Also, if anything is missing, we will update it later.
