8) You are walking on beach with your close friends in the evening. You are doing post graduation in a nearby university. There is only one girl in the group. She belongs to a minority religion. She is very friendly, studious and ambitious girl in your group. You both are close to each other. Even though she is from a conservative family, she has broad and secular views on all issues. On the beach, you are being followed by a group of youngsters. They soon approach your group and start beating you and the girl accusing you of crossing moral lines and behaving indecently in public. Nearby a policeman, who is keeping vigil on the beach, instead of helping you, ignores the incident and walks away. Your friends also run away. You and the girl are beaten and warned not to roam around together again. Your friends who had fled the scene come back and take you both to university. In the university, professors and your friends ask you not to file complaint as this would affect name of the university and would also affect studies of students. Some professors tell you not to roam with girls but to focus more on studies. The girl wants to file complaint, but she is warned by the university officials that the group who beat her might take revenge on her.
Will you go ahead and file police complaint knowing that you and your friend might be attacked again by the same group? What is your opinion on the reaction of your friends and other people in the above case?
