Of Dreams and Commitment

~ Zenia Kaur

“Once you get into the desert, there’s no going back,” said the camel driver. “And, when you can’t go back, you have to worry only about the best way of moving forward. The rest is up to Allah, including the danger.”

~ Excerpts from ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho

For a lot of aspirants, taking up the initial decision to pursue IAS dream seriously was once as difficult as living it now in the present. At that time also you had analyzed all possibilities, consequences etc. and had arrived at the decision to jump into the race. It (the decision) took its own time and you came through it. And now in the present when you have entered the race, you have to face another set of challenges like maintaining a daily routine, consistency, understanding issues, guidance and a lot more. Often we find ourselves in messy situations (especially beginners), all our plans, schedules don’t go the way we wish and thus end up getting frustrated or even arrive at a point of questioning our own decisions! Remember one day you’ll be able to get through this as well.

They say – If you can think about it, you can make it happen too! The very fact that ‘YOU’ had the thought of becoming an IAS officer, had enough belief in that thought that ‘You Can’ and you’ve shown the courage by pursuing it to make it a reality, it is no less than a blessing! (Have you ever wondered why you aren’t that passionate enough for MBA, CA etc. as you are for becoming an IAS officer? Because IAS is your calling! ) So trust your thoughts, your dreams and your decisions. And when you’ll be able to keep that desire to achieve your dreams burning, aflame and not lose hope, only then you’ll be able to work for it with all your heart.
