Note: In the article, the Chairman has given a faint hint to something important:

“...there would soon come a time when a balancing mechanism would be put in place that would value the candidates’ general knowledge over subject proficiency.”

Though Optional subjects may not be removed next year, they would be removed in future for sure. We hope they do it as soon as possible. We hate Optional subjects.

Now  we know even the Chairman hates them (this answers  why Geography and Pub Ad are taking nice beating)

Now, please don’t ask us if Optional subjects would be removed this year itself etc. We don’t know. Nobody knows it except The Chairman.

We hope he removes them before he vacates the office. Thereby doing great disservice to the coaching institutes  and great service to the nation.
